Am I ever on time?

Two of these!

I am usually on time to everything - but barely. That is, except when I travel to see my father in Miami - then I'm always late. Seems I underestimate the time it will take to get there, or the traffic is terrible, or my kids forget something halfway down the road to the turnpike and I have to turn around, causing an hour delay. And also on this blog, where  it seems that I just can't seem to post on the right days! For instance, today I actually worked out, a day behind Workout Wednesday, when … [Read more...]

Shooting myself in the foot

Project chair

Did you ever do something you later regretted? Yeah, I've done a bunch of things I wish I hadn't, too. But, the other day, I was feeling kind of guilty for snatching up the Stiffel lamps for so cheap ($2 each) from an organization that uses the money they make on sales to help people. So, I sort of mentioned that I couldn't believe that they were selling Stiffels for $2, but cheap Walmart (sorry, Walmart, but these particular lamps were kind of cheesy) lamps for $39. What kind of sense did that … [Read more...]

My week in review…

From Twice Lovely

Things have been a little quiet around here in terms of projects. I know, shocking, right? Well, to be honest, I've been kind of stuck in a rut on a couple of things. Like what to paint on this cute little cabinet now that the base paint is done. It's now painted a beautiful shade of Night Tide, by Rustoleum. Love the color, it's yummy! I would love to do something like this - as recommended by Melinda. Isn't it the cutest? But I'm hesitant because I'm afraid of committing to a … [Read more...]

The Liebster Blog Award

liebster-award

Yesterday, in the midst of being downright crabby and stressed out about everything, my phone chimed to let me know that I had an email. When I opened the email, it was a notification about a comment made on my "about me" page, and this is the body of the text... "I love reading your blog! You do all of the projects I wish I had the time to do! Sadly there aren’t enough hours in the day and with a baby and a toddler I have to pick projects that won’t result in toddler fingerprints in … [Read more...]

I like shiny stuff

Not so shiny

After many months of going to my favorite thrift store and coming home with many treasures, my husband wanted to see what was so great about the place. Yesterday, he finished work early and we headed over. I have to say, he wasn't really impressed at first. But then I dragged him around and showed him all the places to find the best stuff. Since we were only there to look, we didn't buy any of the big cabinets we found, or the end tables that I liked (but have no place for) or the adorable … [Read more...]

Photo Friday – My Family

Peek

I thought I'd use Photo Friday to introduce you to my family. This is my husband. He is the best husband/best friend/father a person could ask for, and everyday I thank God for sending him into our lives. He is crazy smart, funny when he doesn't even mean to be, supportive, patient and best of all, he's the biggest "sucker" for our kids.   A few weeks ago, I bought a new camera, and I've been busy practicing with it, much to the dismay of my kids. These first two are from a … [Read more...]

I am enjoying all the comments and suggestions, and I hope that they will continue to come my way. If you are new here, as most of you are, don't be shy - say hi! Many of you have found me due to my post about painting a chair using Tulip's fabric spray paint, and quite a few of you have said you are … [Read more...]

Makeover Monday

This is the BEFORE picture

I have been enjoying spending time with my kids while they were on Christmas break, so I haven't been up to my normal amount of projects. I did however start working on this cabinet tonight. Hmmm... Not the best pic. How about this one? I picked it up a few weeks ago at my favorite thrift store, Faith Farm, for $25. My husband doesn't think it's my style and wanted to know why I bought such a simple cabinet. I kind of like how simple it is. The paint job on it was old, and crackled and pitted, … [Read more...]

Chair update

Voila!

For a few days here, in south Florida, it was too cold for spray painting outside. No, not for the spray paint, but for me - brrr! However, today is a beautiful day so I finally got to finish painting the chair legs and arms. One of my readers (hehe - that's funny to say - my readers - it still hasn't hit me that I have a few :), Susane, suggested a few different options, and I took one of them. I chose to paint them a muted nickel. I really like how it's turned out. Looks awfully blue in … [Read more...]

Fabric Paint Revisited

Rustoleum and Tulip Fabric Spray

The other day, I posted about some projects I needed to finish in this post.  One of which was my son's chair. This one... I think I picked it up at the thrift store for $5. Not a single piece of caning was broken, and even though the fabric on the cushion was faded, it was in good condition and it didn't stink. If you stick around here long enough, you will know that I have a very sensitive nose. I can't handle stinky stuff. We are Philadelphia Eagles fans in this house, as we used … [Read more...]

Another Pin Success – cleaning supplies

From iHeartOrganizing

One of the things I need most in my life is better organization skills. One thing that was just driving me nuts was that I was constantly losing things because they didn't have a "spot". Cleaning supplies were the worst. Some were shoved under the bathroom sinks, some in the kitchen, and more in the garage. And I always had unnecessary multiples of many things because I didn't know if I had them at home when I was shopping. Then I found www.iHeartOrganizing.blogspot.com Her blog is every … [Read more...]

From A Beautiful Mess

I saw the coolest idea for transferring a photo onto a block of wood on Pinterest, so I pinned it and set to work gathering materials. wooden board picture printed on regular paper mod podge gel medium rag and bowl of water The original pin I pinned was a link to her video, that showed the whole process from start to finish in about a minute.
