My List includes a Kitchen Cousin

Anthony Carrinon - HGTV's Kitchen Cousins

The List - the hypothetical list of (usually famous) people that  you would get a free pass from your spouse to cheat with. Usually the list is made up of people you don't know, and will most likely never run into on a daily basis, therefore making it safe to assume it won't happen. I'm assuming that is probably why the practice is so accepted among spouses. For most people, their lists exist only in their head - a person added here and there over time, and some removed when they fall out of … [Read more...]

Upholstery project #2

I love the leopard print!

Yesterday, I showed you some of the chairs I have painted, including this one. Well, obviously, it's the before picture. I found two of these chairs at a garage sale for $10 a piece. They were clean, and not stinky, and so comfortable. SOLD! Love their shape - but the pattern? Not so much. Since I had priced getting them re-upholstered and found the cost too high, I decided to paint them using the tutorial from Hyphen Interiors. This is how they turned out... And you could still … [Read more...]

Painted chairs – a round up by Hyphen Interiors…

black painted chair

A few months back, I ran across a post on painting upholstery on Hyphen Interiors. I'd never even thought about painting upholstery before, and I couldn't wait to try it out. Since then, I've painted this one, using Kristy's method that called for latex and acrylic paints, mixed with fabric medium. And then, I painted this chair, using Tulip fabric spray paint... And I used Tulip fabric spray paint and Rit fabric dye on this one... In the months since I first saw Kristy's … [Read more...]

Freshly painted door – come on in!

New House - 1st day - front door

Well, that's what I would like our front door to "say" to you when you walk up to our house. When we moved in, this is what greeted you. It wasn't exactly beckoning for you to enter, was it? Since then, we've added some landscaping, gutters, and painted the patio floor white. But I still didn't feel like it was very welcoming. And yes, these pics were from Halloween, so there aren't tombstones in the front yard normally! LOL! So, I decided to paint the front door, which was … [Read more...]

Adding a little zebra never hurt anything

The Before shot

The other day, I found this cute little kitchen table and chairs at Faith Farm. It was a little tired and a little dated, but in great condition. Even the caning on the chairs was perfect. Over this last week, I've finally gotten around to updating them. You know the drill... clean them, sand them a little, use primer, then paint. I used an oil based paint (from Sherwin Williams - love their paints!!) because I know it holds up better to chips and scratches - and with four dogs and two … [Read more...]

Patio Furniture Re-do

Rustoleum navy blue spray paint

When we lived in our old house, the colors of our patio furniture where all oranges and rust and reds. When we moved here, all the furniture we had didn't quite fit the patio space, nor was I in love with the color scheme anymore. I wanted blues and greens. Since we had already either given away or sold the other outside furniture, I put the table and chairs up for sale on Craigslist and sold it within just a few hours. It was easily the fastest Craigslist sale for me, ever. Then, I set to … [Read more...]

More shiny things…

From Pancakes and French Fries

Since I've been amassing quite a collection of silver platters/plates/bowls, I've been looking for ways to display them. I've seen quite a few wall displays on Pinterest, like these... and I've been contemplating something similar for my house. Keeping that in mind, don't judge me when I tell you that the other day, I went to Faith Farm and found this plate/bowl made by Reed and Barrow. I liked the look of it, and for $3, I decided it wouldn't kill me to add it to the … [Read more...]
