Months and months ago, I found a set of vintage barrel chairs at Faith Farm – my favorite thrift store.
While the fabric on the chairs chairs looked okay, it was crunchy and stained – and I thought too dated. So I took a couple hours and removed the fabric and all 9 million staples.
Then I painted them with Rustoleum White. But not before I tried to use their antique white, but it was way too creamy.
Here they are side by side, in their original color and then in the new white. Well, one coat of it anyway.
And finally, months after I first started this project, I finally finished them. That piping took me a week of upholstery class alone to sew it!
I love how they look now – completely fresh and bright. Now, I just have to find someone else to love them as much as I do! We seem to have a few too many chairs around here. Note to self: stop buying chairs just because they are cool
Thanks for stopping by!

They turned out great…glad I am not the only sucker for a chair! I have several I need to fix up but still on the lookout for another great find. Happy Chair Hunting
Thanks! I think there are about six too many floating around my house at this point! I think we are having a yard sale this weekend… unless it’s a million degrees outside!
They turned out GREAT! Love the fabric, too! I’ve got to find a good thrift store in my town…so I can collect chairs too, like you…lol!!!
Oh, it’s a sickness, I tell ya! LOL!
I love them. They would look so fab in a sun room! And great job on the piping. Its a bear I tell ya!
I’m not in love with piping, that’s for sure.
My mother is a chair addict, too! These are gorgeous!
Thank you! It makes me happy to know I am not alone
I love what you’ve done with them, very nice!
Thank you!
What fabric did you use to recover the seats?
I’m not sure of the name, but I found it at JoAnn’s. Sorry!
