When a local plant nursery was going out of business a few months back, I stopped by and picked up a few plants, and some other cool stuff. One of the other things I picked up for $5 was this antique child's rocking chair. It was moldy and mildewed, and had definitely seen better days, but it was the perfect size for my niece, who is two. … [Read more...]

I have been waiting to post this for some time now, but we were waiting for the shower wall enclosure to be installed and that finally happened yesterday. So, without further ado, here is our new master bathroom!! This is the space that was formerly my husband's sink. He never used any of the cabinet space, and usually only had three things on the counter, so he really didn't need all that space. So, we removed the vanity and replaced it with this cabinet. … [Read more...]

A few weeks ago, I went to Faith Farm's big sale and found (among other things) this great little shelf. The metal was in really good shape - no rust or pitting - but the shelves were made of particle board and already starting to get icky. … [Read more...]

One of my favorite things to do is to go thrifting. I love to thrift for a few reasons, first one being that I truly believe that we should recycle and re-use as much as we can - it's just good common sense. I don't know how many times I've seen perfectly good pieces of furniture left at the curb, when there is always someone who can use it. … [Read more...]

So, one of my obsessions with managing a blog is to see what my stats are. Where people are coming from, what search terms they use to find me, etc. Well, a few of the most popular terms are "how tall is Anthony Carrino?", "Anthony Carrino" and "Kitchen Cousins". … [Read more...]

A few months back, I found this beautiful china cabinet. Okay, so maybe it wasn't so beautiful yet... Well, that's not the whole cabinet, because when we got the cabinet into the house, it was too heavy for me to pick up and move by myself, so we just placed the top on the ground so I could paint it without the use of a ladder. Therefore, I didn't get a picture of the whole thing together. Ugh. When will I learn? It is made by Drexel, and it was in great condition. The lights work, it … [Read more...]
For the next two days, my blog will be getting an update. It's going to look wonky, and the buttons won't work, and the menus will all be funky! Please bear with me! As soon as it's up again, I'll be back to posting. I've got quite a few projects done in the last few weeks, so there is plenty to share! Thanks!! Eliesa … [Read more...]

At the Haven Conference this week, we were given some fabulous swag from various vendors. One such vendor was from Fish Window Cleaning. They were at the conference to promote their Fish Foam window cleaner. Since we have four dogs, and two sets of sliding glass doors and our front door has glass inserts, I can always use a good window and glass cleaner. But because we also have two parrots, we have to be really careful with what we use around them. I did ask the vendor if they knew … [Read more...]

I loved how this chair went from green to teal using Tulip fabric spray paint. I loved this stuff. My only complaint was that it was a little pricey when you need a lot of bottles. Each bottle was about $6 each. In the comments of that post, a few people suggested using iDye or Rit dye mixed with water or alcohol as a cheaper alternative. When I found this chair for $2, I knew I found my next guinea pig chair. I painted the legs of the chair white, then taped them off as best … [Read more...]
