Pins I’ve Tried: Citrus Salt Body Scrub

Citrus Salt Body Scrub

Today, I was scrolling through Pinterest and I came across this pin*. Since summer is coming, and the pool is almost done, I figured that this would be the perfect time to break out the body scrubs and moisturizers, and get my legs, and arms and elbows and feet, ready and presentable for pool-side lounging. This particular recipe was perfectly timed for today since I had both lemons and limes in the fridge.   The recipe calls for: 1/2 cup almond oil 1/2 cup sea … [Read more...]

Pool 2.0 – the Beginning

Treasure Pools

If you follow me on Pinterest, you have probably noticed a new board called "pool re-do someday". Since we moved into this house almost two years ago, we have always had a plan to re-do the pool, and it is finally the time to start. Before we "dive in" to the details (heh heh... see what I did there?), let me give you a little background... A few years ago, before we moved to this house, we had our perfect pool built at the old house. We chose a basic rectangular pool, with bump-outs for the … [Read more...]

The Last Few Weeks and A Few More Pins I’ve Tried

Minion Cupcakes

The last few weeks have been a little bit of a blur for us, which explains my absence from blogging for a while. It's all good things, but we seem to have hit our busy time of year. We bought a shed off of Craigslist and had it delivered. I never thought about how much preparation was needed to move a shed, especially one of this size. I'm glad it's over and done with now, but while it was happening, it was crazy stressful. We are now in the process of getting it ready to be painted to … [Read more...]

Baking Soda and Coconut Oil - Best face scrub and moisturizer out there!

Pinterest - how do I love thee? Like my dog loves bacon. Seriously. There are so many really cool ideas on there for saving time, money or natural resources. I just wish I had the time or energy to try them all out.  I've been a little busy around here to post about the pins I've tried individually, so I'm going to do a few all together. As always, you can click on the pictures to be taken to the original website from which it was pinned (unless that pin goes nowhere, in which case I don't … [Read more...]

Pins I’ve Tried: Alcohol Ink Coasters

orange flower on water, alcohol ink

Unlike some of the pins I've tried on Pinterest that don't work out, this one was definitely worth trying. I saw this pin for alcohol ink coasters, as well as a few more like it, on Pinterest a few weeks back. I was immediately drawn to the vibrant colors and the fun designs. (to go to the original post, click on the picture above) Before seeing this on Pinterest, I had never heard of alcohol ink. It's crazy to think about all the things I'm missing out on! So, when I first saw … [Read more...]

Pins I’ve Tried: Christmas Tree Cones

Christmas Cone Tree

One of my best friends in the whole wide world, Tracy, came over to visit a few weeks ago. She brought her three little people, who are perhaps some of my favorite kids ever. They have such sweet personalities and are bundles of non-stop energy. They make me miss having small people running around our house.   Before they came up, Tracy and I decided that it would be a good idea to do a fun project with the kids when they were here. So, Tracy found this pin, which was the perfect … [Read more...]

Pins I’ve Tried: S’more Croissants

Although I'm not posting as much as I used to, it's not because I haven't been trying new pins. In fact, I've been putting a lot of pins to the test lately while I'm trying to get ready for the 20 or so people that are coming for Thanksgiving. I love having my family together for the holidays, but I always want my home to look great. Therefore, I spend a few weeks beforehand trying to finish all the little projects I've been putting off. Do you do that too? Please tell me you do, then I'll feel … [Read more...]

How to make Homemade Deodorant

Hi there! Long time, no post, huh? Sorry about that. It's been a crazy, overwhelming month and I just couldn't do much more than get through it as best as I could. But I do have lots of projects that I am going to be sharing - including our new master bathroom!! It's about 90% complete, but I fear if I wait to show you until it's 100% done, it will be old by then. I plan on taking some pictures today and getting the post ready this week. Sorry for the delay, but you are going to be amazed at the … [Read more...]

Bathroom Update and a New “Pin’s I’ve Tried” Pinterest Board

Navy Blue Bathroom

The demo on our master bathroom started yesterday, and I foresee many hours being dedicated to it's completion. I am hoping to be able to get a few posts written during the next few weeks, but just in case I don't, don't worry - I haven't fallen into the hole in the floor that used to be my bath tub!  I'm still busy pinning like crazy - especially bathroom pins. Oh, by the way, sorry about clogging up your pinterest feed with them all. But, I am loving how easy it has been to gather ideas for … [Read more...]

Pins I’ve Tried: DIY Hard Water Remover

Water spots are annoying little buggers.

The water in our house is very hard. I have hard water stains everywhere. Bathtubs, sinks, showers, countertops, toilets... they are all subject to the ugly stains. I've tried quite a few methods in an attempt to get rid of it, but hadn't found anything that made the task any easier. And then, I found this pin today. … [Read more...]

Pins I’ve Tried: Homemade Laundry Soap

homemade laundry soap

I have an admission to make. (yes, another one) My clothes stink. Well, they did. They stank no matter what I did to get the stink out. I tried numerous laundry detergents - even the expensive HE ones. I used a little soap. I used a lot of soap. I added a little bit bleach to EVERY load - not good for black socks, by the way. I used vinegar in the rinse cycle. I used extra fabric softener. I added Borax to every load. I tried baking soda too. Nothing stopped my clothes from having a sour … [Read more...]
